Upgrading VCS using the product installer

You can use the product installer to upgrade VCS.
To upgrade VCS using the product installer
  1. Log in as superuser and mount the product disc.
  2. Start the installer.
\# ./installer
The installer starts the product installation program with a copyright message. It then specifies where it creates the logs. Note the log's directory and name.
  1. Select the product you want to upgrade.
  2. Choose 1 for full upgrade.
  3. Enter the names of the nodes that you want to upgrade. Use spaces to separate node names. Press the Enter key to proceed.
  4. When the verification checks are complete, the installer asks if you agree with the terms of the End User License Agreement. Press y to agree and continue.
  5. The installer displays the following question before the install stops the product processes. If the cluster was not configured in secure mode before the upgrade, these questions are not displayed.
    • Do you want to generate certificates for the Arctera InfoScale Enterprise components with 2048 bit encryption keys and SHA256 signatures?
You can enter y and upgrade to 2048 bit key and SHA256 signature certificates at this stage or perform the upgrade later.
  1. The installer asks if you want to stop VCS processes. Press the Enter key to continue.
The installer stops VCS processes, uninstalls filesets, installs or upgrades filesets, and configures VCS.
The installer lists the nodes that Arctera recommends you to restart.
  1. The installer asks if you want to send the information about this installation to us to help improve installation in the future. Enter your response.
The installer displays the location of log files, summary file, and response file.
  1. If you want to upgrade CP server systems that use VCS or SFHA to VCS 9.0, make sure that you first upgrade all application clusters to version VCS 9.0. Then, upgrade VCS or SFHA on the CP server systems.
