Prerequisites and compatibility requirements

Both clusters must provide matching virtualization runtimes, including:
  • QEMU/KVM version
  • Machine type (for example, pc-q35)
  • OpenShift Virtualization components (KubeVirt, CDI, HCO)
A mismatch in these components can cause VirtualMachineInstance (VMI) synchronization failures during restore.
Example:

Ensuring version parity prevents restore failures and guarantees correct VMI reconstruction on the target cluster.
