Installing and configuring InfoScale DR Manager on OpenShift
InfoScale Disaster Recovery (DR) Manager provides a framework for protecting workloads across OpenShift clusters. Prerequisite configuration requires InfoScale pods to be active, all Persistent Volume Claims (PVCs) to be in a stable state, and the deployment of a load balancer (such as MetalLB) to facilitate resilient cross-cluster communication. Organizations must ensure that stale Custom Resources (CRs) are cleared and that necessary network interfaces are strictly defined for multi-homed environments. Furthermore, administrators must create a specific StorageClass and PVC for metadata backups to ensure application state can be recovered across cluster boundaries.
Deployment of the DR Manager can be performed via OLM or YAML, utilizing specific RBAC roles to manage permissions. Once the DR manager is installed and the load balancer is configured with an external IP, operators verify connectivity across clusters to ensure the DR controller can communicate effectively. Ongoing maintenance involves upgrading the DR Manager operator through the OpenShift console, provided the underlying InfoScale software has already been updated.
