How Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager discovers Nutanix Clusters

Last published : Jun 19, 2026
Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager uses designated Control Hosts to discover the information on the virtual machines. You must install the Control Host Add-on on the managed hosts that you want to designate as Control Hosts. Control Host uses the Nutanix REST APIs to access the Nutanix infrastructure information.
When you configure the virtualization discovery in Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager, you must ensure that you have appropriate privileges to access the Prism Central.
The Nutanix Prism contains a web server. The web services that are hosted on the web server communicate with the Nutanix Infrastructure. After you configure a virtualization discovery, the Control Host uses the Nutanix REST APIS to communicate with the web services that are hosted on the web server. For this communication, the Control Host uses the HTTPS protocol.
A sample URL for the Nutanix REST APIS web services is as follows:
https://\< traditional_host_name_of_Prism_Consol\>:9440/api/nutanix/v3/clusters/list
After the discovery of Nutanix Infrastructure, the Control Host reports the discovered data to Management Server.
