Enhanced support for replication using virtual host names
The Volume Replicator (VVR) component has been enhanced to support replication across cloud availability zones and multi-subnet environments using virtual host names.
VVR now validates the source and destination IPs before use as follows:
-
The use of the same IPs is enforced for both
vradminand replication. -
Hostname resolution includes iterating through local IPs to find a valid path.
-
Disconnects trigger reevaluation of IPs to restore the functioning of
vradminand replication. -
In failover scenarios, the IPs are updated dynamically to ensure that the correct replication paths are followed.
Before you can configure replication using virtual hostnames, the following prerequisites must be met:
-
Applications must be configured according to the VVR replication requirements.
-
Dependencies between the application service groups must be defined appropriately.
The additional step for specifying the virtual hostnames needs to be performed after configuring replication using the Disaster Recovery (DR) wizard.
