Viewing the disks in a disk group

You can use the Management Server console to view information about the disks in a disk group.
Some of the disk details are the following:
  • VxVM Name: Name of the Storage Foundation (VxVM) volume that is associated with this disk
  • Disk Group Type: For VxVM disks, this can be private or shared
  • Avid: Array vendor identifier - a unique identifier for the array LUN
  • EFI: A flag for boot disk on HP-UX
  • Media type: For example, HDD or SSD
The same view displays the device Dynamic Multipathing (DMP) paths to the selected disk, including the type of multipathing, whether the path is enabled, and the name of the initiator on the path.
You can view this information related to the hosts for which your user group has at least Guest role explicitly assigned or inherited from a parent Organization. You can also view the information if your user group has at least Guest role assigned on the Server perspective.
To view operations you can perform, right-click a disk.
Some of the operations you can perform include the following:
  • View disk performance.
  • Create disk group.
  • Add disk to the disk group.
  • Recover disk.
  • Replace disk.
  • Reclaim thin storage (for thin disks on Storage Foundation 6.0 or later, managed host 5.0 or later)
To view the disks in a disk group
  1. In the Management Server console, go to the Server perspective and expand Manage in the left pane.
  2. Expand the Organization or Uncategorized Hosts to locate the host.
  3. Expand the host.
  4. Expand Disk Groups and select a disk group.
  5. Click the Disks tab to display information about the disks in the disk group.
  6. Select a disk to view its properties in the Properties pane and to view its paths in the Paths table below. You can search for a disk by entering a few letters of its name.
